This was our texture assignment for layout! It was an interesting project, but somewhat challenging at the same time. I didn't have a crazy large amount of time to get it finished, but I'm pretty happy with the result! Plus reading week officially started! Yay.
No, I actually have tons of things to do.

Sketchbook Stories, 7
About time I did another one of these. Seriously though, my sketches are becoming so ridiculously scribbly that I don't like a lot of them anymore. I've filled several sketchbooks between my latest "Sketchbook Stories" post and now, but I simply don't like a lot of it. I want to work on visualizing what I want to draw in my head before I actually draw it. Whenever I do that, my sketches usually turn out much better. I'm just... not doing it. Anyway, enough ranting. Here's four REALLY random sketchbook pages.
Remember this guy? Some of my teacher's (Enzo) drawings in here too (grey pencil). He's amazing at this stuff!

Walk Cycles
Two walk cycles, aw yeah!
So, the first one is the inbetweening assignment we had to do. We got key frames from the Pink Panther and we simply drew the inbetween frames for it. However, the key frames had quite a few issues with it that I tried to change, such as the hand not dragging, no easing in and out, weird shoulder issues, and a few more. Anyway, I tried to fix them, but the walk itself is still rather simplistic. Oh well, it was a good exercise. Here it is:
We're the first year to be allowed to create our own original character and create a walk cycle for it. I ended up designing a flamingo and making it super snobby. I tried animating it, and I had a lot of fun doing it!
If only I had more time...
I had all my keys finished and I pencil-tested it. I liked it, but there were a few minor issues I still wanted to address, such as easing in and out, smaller, quicker steps, etc. However, as I said, I didn't have time to restart so I just continued with this one since I was still happy with it. I ended up finishing it in a super-rough stage, which was fine. I really had A LOT of fun rolling (or learning how to roll) the paper with this assingment, and I hope to continue doing that! Here you go: it's a flamingo!*

Once Upon A Desert
We had to create a Flash animation for our digital tools class, and I kind of made it up as I went along. I hope you enjoy it, with all it's super-heroic content and all, haha! Animating in Flash took time to get used to, since I found I didn't have a lot of control about the way things would look in the end. Nonetheless, I learned a lot about the program, which I'm sure will come in handy someday.
The frame-by-frame animation is ridiculously rough!
PS: something completely unrelated: having long legs is annoying sometimes. Like sitting at a computer in the learning commons at school and your knees touching the underside of the desk... I now have someone's gum stuck on my jeans. Blah :|

HTTYD: Copying the Master
This took me over 22 hours, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. The original painting I copied came from the How to Train Your Dragon artbook, but I'm not sure if I should post that here, because it's not my property :) Plus, you'd start comparing the two paintings and notice that mine doesn't look nearly as cool. Then again, the original was a digital (probably matte) painting :) You can find the original in the How to Train Your Dragon artbook, if you're interested.

Of Gorillas and Power Cords
For my character design "In Sequence" assignment I had this lenghty story about a gorilla trying to turn on a television but getting electrocuted, burned, etc. Enzo, my teacher, condensed it and changed it multiple times until it was only six panels long (originally 17) and with a slighlty different story.
Here are the rough versions of the assignment. Since I already handed in my clean-up versions, I was only able to scan the roughs. I kind of prefer the rough versions to the clean ones anyway though, so I don't really mind :)

Dramatic Layout in the Freezer
Hey you people!
It's been a looong time since I've updated, so here's more recent schoolwork! Yay! Okay, so I've been working on this layout piece of little creatures that live in freezer icycles... yeah!
My first concept was a quick drawing I did in class, but since the assignment asked for a more dramatic angle, I changed the view for the final image. Hope you like it!
